Thank you for observing a moment of silence as I bow my head and grieve the loss of the immensely talented David Hicks, who designed his own patterned rugs and carpets because none available were suitable for the rooms he conceived. On a truly serious note, Hicks’ talents were many and although he’s been gone almost 15 years, I still sense a creative void around work of this type and I wonder if anyone today really even “gets” this aesthetic.
